Types of industrial boilers
Different types of boilers are available in the market made by different industrial boiler manufacturers in India. These types of boilers have different purposes in various applications. Hence, it can be challenging to choose the right kind of boiler for your facility. It is necessary to understand the different types of boilers to make the right decision.
So, we have made a list of fundamental type of boilers. Next time when you're going through the boilers, you only have to understand the fundamental type that it falls in. Then you can understand it's purpose better. But, before we know the types of boilers, let us first understand what a boiler is?
What is a boiler?
A closed vessel which is used to heat a fluid (mostly water) is a boiler. Contrary to what the name suggests, the fluid doesn't necessarily boil. It is heated or vaporized. This heated or vaporized fuel is used for power generation, central heating, water heating, etc. The most important part of the boiler is the pressure vessel, which is made up of steel.
Now, that we understand boilers, let's look at a few types.
Haystack boiler
This is a primitive type of boiler. The vessel is partially filled with water. This partially filled water is heated by fire. The efficiency of this kind of boiler is very low. It produces low-pressure steam in huge volume.
Fire-tube boiler
Fire-tube boilers are also known as marine boilers. In this type, a vessel is partially filled with water. The space above water is left to be accommodated by steam. Steam locomotives use this type of boiler. To keep the temperature of the heating surface below the boiling point, it is surrounded by water. It is observed that this type of boiler has a low rate of steam production.
Water-tube boiler
In water-tube boiler, tubes full of water are arranged in various configurations inside a furnace. The water tubes generally connect drums. The upper tube contains water and steam and the lower include water. This type of boiler mostly gives a high production rate. Water-tube boilers are preferred in high-pressure applications since the small diameter pipes can contain the high pressure. This type of furnace can be multiple stories tall.
Flash boiler
A flash boiler is similar to a water-tube boiler. In a flash boiler, water is pimped through tubes that are closely held together. The tubes in a flash boiler maintain a hot temperature. Because of this, the water is flashed into steam.
These are the fundamental type of boilers. To understand boilers offered by boiler companies in India, you should understand these types. We hope the blog helped you know, so you are equipped to make the right decision for your facility.
