Why Environmental concern is the need of the hour

While we were busy arguing whether the climate is changing or not, the climate has changed! Several organisations who were earlier reluctant have now become a part of the fight against this change. So, let's address the topic. Why do we need to tackle this issue now?

What is air pollution?

The event when a substantial amount of air particles and substances enter the Earth's atmosphere and contaminate it is called air pollution. This pollution has poisonous effects. Air pollution can be of 2 types. Natural and man-made. The natural sources are volcanic eruptions, wildfires, etc. Man-made air pollution has 2 types. Mobile and Stationary. Mobile sources include cars, trains, aeroplanes, etc. Stationary sources are factories, industrial facilities, power plants, etc.

The pollution produced by various sources has adverse effects on humans. Short term effects include pneumonia, bronchitis, headaches, dizziness and irritation to skin, nose, and eyes. The long term effects are highly painful, which can cause premature deaths as well. Every year around 2.5 million people die worldwide due to air pollution.

The effects are not only restricted to humans. The environment is being affected by this phenomenon. There have been instances of acid rain, crop and forest damage, haze and global climate change.

Why do we need to take action now?

We need to understand that global warming can cause the extinction of human and many other species on this planet. It is our responsibility to protect the only suspended rock in the universe that has life. If the population of all the species on the planet were to be counted, the total population of humans would not make for more than 5 per cent of it. Yet we have managed to bring the planet to extinction single-handedly.

The threat of global warming has its roots in air and water pollution. If we can fight them, we can address the issue of global warming.

The Indian government has finally responded to this imminent danger. The government has come up with a plan to fight global warming and protect the environment. To fight this bane of air pollution, the environmental protection agency in India has come up with mandates that need to be followed by the industries.

Companies such as Thermax produce air pollution control systems that can be used by companies to control the damage and reduce air pollution. Products like these can slowly help us win the war against global warming. To learn more about such green initiatives, visit the official website of Thermax !
