What is a steam boiler and how is it used?
A steam boiler is a device that has water and a heat source, powered by oil, gas, or coal. The boiler sends heat from the heat source to the water container, thus turning water into steam. The steam leaves the container from a pipe and is transferred to another location where it can be used for purposes such as cleaning, powering equipment, or providing heat. The most popular purpose of a boiler is as a source of central heating for a residential space, commercial complex, hospital etc. The system of a steam boiler relies on a burner to start the combustion process, and then the steam moves through the system with the help of pumps, radiators, and heat exchangers. A closed boiler system is the most efficient one, with 100 per cent of the steam being returned to the container in water form so it can be reused.
